This cult started in 1914 from a debate over the question
of the correct formula for water baptism. It soon developed into a debate
over the nature of the Godhead and whether a man was saved or not if he
wasn't baptized in the "name of Jesus Christ", as in Acts 2:38. The Apostolic
Pentecostals said that Mt. 28:19 was talking about Jesus Christ only, when
He used the word "name" singular, referring to the Father, Son and the
Holy Ghost. If what they say is true, why didn't The Lord Jesus just say:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in my name", instead
of "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost". In other
words, they believe there is
no trinity, the Father is Jesus, Jesus
is Jesus and the Holy Ghost is Jesus. They say the word;
"Trinity"
is
a word the Roman Catholic Church coined. This
isn't true; Tertullian (155-230) used the word in 200 A.D.
The Roman Catholic Church didn't begin until after about 300 A.D.
Now usually when you have one major heresy, it multiplies
into more. They also believe their Jesus baptism is where the blood is
applied, they get the Holy Ghost when baptized and also blabber in a gibberish
they call tongues. There are plenty more heresies they believe, however
we're going to deal with their main ones in this thesis. The Bible says
in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast
that which is good. We will now begin to prove from the Bible that
the so-called "Apostolic Pentecostals" or "Jesus only people" are a heretical
blasphemous cult and if they really believe what they profess, then they
are lost, without hope, without God, still dead in trespasses and sins
and if they die in that condition, they will lift up their eyes in hell
just like the rich man did in Luke 16.
FIRST WE MUST ESTABLISH IF YOUR FINAL AUTHORITY IS A KING JAMES BIBLE AND YOU BELIEVE EXACTLY WHAT A VERSE SAYS, IN IT'S CONTEXT, RIGHTLY DIVIDED. IF YOU DO YOU WON'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH THIS CULT. A BIBLE BELIEVER ADJUSTS HIS THEOLOGY TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE TEXT, NOT ADJUST THE TEXT TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF HIS THEOLOGY.
NOW THERE ARE CERTAIN RULES OF BIBLE STUDY YOU MUST ABIDE BY, IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL RUN INTO CONTRADICTIONS.
Every verse in the Bible has three applications
1.Historical ...This means the thing happened in history
as the Bible said it happened, where it happened and how it happened.
2.Doctrinal ... Every verse in the Bible is aimed at
a specific person or race, for a specific reason, to teach a specific truth.
3. Spiritual ...Since all scripture is profitable for
doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness, every
verse has a spiritual application, which can be used to correct or instruct
people.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Notice: Doctrine is the first thing you
need to get from the scriptures. So, we are going to show you the doctrinal
teaching on the Trinity and the main reason they are lost.
Apostolic Pentecostals do NOT believe in the Trinity, that is, three persons in one.
THE BIBLE ANSWER:
1. Places where they are called
a person:
The Father is called a person:
Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of
his glory, and the express image of his person ...
In this verse the phrase "his person" is referring
to God the Father.
The Son is called a person:
2 Corinthians 2:10 To whom ye forgive
any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave
it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; (This is
self explanatory)
The Holy Spirit is never specifically
called a person, however, He has personality traits. For example:
He can be grieved:
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit
of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
He can be offended:
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose
ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of
God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified,
an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
(Despite means to vex, to offend, and to tease. That
is definitely a personality trait)
He can be lied to:
Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan
filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost …
2. Places where they are named.
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus,
when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the
heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit
of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And
lo a voice from heaven, saying, This
is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Jesus was standing
there, the Holy Spirit descending like
a dove on Him and God spoke from Heaven.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost:
(The three are listed here plainly)
2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord
Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Ghost,
be with you all. Amen.
The three are listed plainly here too.
John 14:16 And I
will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with
you for ever;
Jesus is standing there, that's one, he is praying to
the Father, that's two and he is saying that the Father will give the disciples
the Holy Ghost, who is called another Comforter.
3. Places where each is called God,
NOT Jesus:
Father:
John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which
perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which
the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God
the Father sealed.
1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge
of God the Father, through sanctification
of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Son:
Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Sonhe
saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever
and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
(Here God the Father is talking about God the Son)
Holy Ghost:
Acts 5:3-4 But Peter
said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy
Ghost, and to keep back part of the price
of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after
it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this
thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
4. Places where each is called Lord.
Father:
Jeremiah 16:21 Therefore, behold, I will
this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my
might; and they shall know that my name is The
LORD.
Son:
1 Corinthians 12:3Wherefore
I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth
Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus
is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Holy Ghost:
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the
Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there
is liberty.
5. If all three are the same, then why are the penalties
different.
Matthew 12:31-32 Wherefore I say unto you,
All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the
blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven
unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man,
it
shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy
Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in
the world to come.
6. Places where one means more
than one.
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave
his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they
shall be one flesh.
Genesis 11:6 And the LORD said, Behold,
the
people is one, and they have all one language; and this they
begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have
imagined to do.
1 Kings 22:13 And the messenger that was
gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the
prophetsdeclare
good unto the king with one mouth:
let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that
which is good.
John 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest
me I have given them; that they may
be one, even as we
are one:
Acts 4:32 And the multitude
of
them that believed were of one heart
and of one soul: neither said any of
them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they
had all things common.
1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he
that planteth and he that watereth
are one: ...
7. Places where plural pronouns
refer to the Trinity.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us
make man in our image, after our
likeness: ...
Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold,
the man is become as one of us, to
know good and evil: ...
Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us
go down, and there confound their language, ...
8. Places where there is a distinction
of wills between the Son and the Father
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing:
as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine
own will, but the will of the Father
which hath sent me.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not
to do mine own will, but the will of
him that sent me.
9. Places of divine conversations
Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he
cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice
and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
(Jesus is talking to the Father)
Hebrews 10:9 Then saidhe,
Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh
away the first, that he may establish the second.
(Jesus is again talking to the Father)
John 12:28 Father,
glorify thy name. Then came there a voice
from heaven, saying, I have both glorified
it, and will glorify it again.
(Jesus talked to the Father and the Father talked
to the Son, there are many others to numerous to list)
10. Places where one is seated
beside the other.
Mark 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken
unto them, he was received up into
heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
(The "he" is Jesus who went up into heaven and sat
beside the Father)
Acts 2:33 Therefore being by
the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father
the promise of the Holy Ghost, ...
(Here Jesus is by the Father and the Holy Ghost came
in His place)
Romans 8:34 ... It is Christ that died, yea rather, that
is risen again, who is even at theright
hand of God, who also maketh intercession
for us.
(In these verses Jesus is said to be sitting beside
the Father, also in this last verse, do you think Jesus
is making intercession for us, with
himself?
Again there are many verses on this, but these should help you if you are
honest.)
11. Places where examples of a "name"
singular, that can mean more than one.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit
of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such
there is no law. (Notice, singular "fruit")
Isaiah 9:6 ... and his name
shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty
God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
(Again, "name" singular with 5
names)
12. Place where Son goes
to the Father and takes a book out of
his right hand.
Revelation 5:7 And he
came and took the book out of the right hand of him
that
sat upon the throne.
13. Places that show the distinction of the Trinity
a. God the Father is liken to
a soul.
Psalms 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous:
but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
b. God
the Father has a shape and it's not the same as Jesus'
John 5:37 And the Father
himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have
neither heard his voice at any time,
nor seen his shape. (NOTICE! If
Jesus is the Father, He lied because He was standing right in front of
the Jews; the context is John 5:15.)
15. In this age there three names to use Matthew 28:19,
during the 1000 year reign the name will just be "LORD" compare Zechariah
14:9 with 1 Corinthians. 15:28.
Zechariah 14:9 And the LORD shall
be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD,
and
his
name one.
1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things
shall be subdued unto him, (the Father) then shall the Son also
himself be subject unto him (the Father) that put all things under
him, that God may be all in all.
(Those verses say that after God the Father puts them
all under His feet and death is done away with, then the Lord Jesus Christ
is going to go back into the Trinity and becomes subject to the Father
again as a member of the Trinity and that God will be all in all.)
Apostolic Pentecostals believe in Baptismal Regeneration
1. The verse that all "Apostolic Pentecostals" are
determined to go to Hell on is Acts 2:38.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Lets see exactly what this verse says:
a. He talking to the Jews as a nation, see verse 37,
they said what must "we" do in view of the fact they just crucified their
messiah. He told them (the Jews, NOT Gentiles) to repent of the above fact.
Then they must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ because their sins
were remitted at Calvary. When "you" (the Jews) are baptized, you would
get the gift of the Holy Ghost. No one that was baptized spoke in tongues.
The only ones that spoke in foreign languages (they are listed in Acts
9 verses 9-11) were Matthais and the eleven other Apostles; Acts 1:26,
the immediate context! A text without a context is a pretext!
b. Verse 39 says that, that promise is to all that are afar off. (That is a quote from Daniel 9:7 and is referring to Israel, NOT Gentiles in this age.)
c. No one else in the Bible was baptized the same way to get the Holy Ghost.
d. If you think Acts 2:38 is the plan of salvation, then
you have a contradiction between Acts 2 and Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 4:5,
Titus 3:5. Baptism in any mode is a work and Paul,
the Apostle to the Gentiles inspired by
the Holy Ghost said: Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are
ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is
the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not,
but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith
is counted for righteousness.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness
which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing
of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
e. All of the above verses should show you that there main doctrines are wrong. The people in this cult are lost because they are not trusting completely in the Blood that The Lord Jesus Christ shed on the cross. They are like millions of others who think they have to help the Lord out and are going about to establish their own righteousness and have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God, which is in Jesus Christ alone, not water baptism, no matter whose name it is in. Please read the rest of this file and trust completely what Jesus Christ did on the cross for you.
VERSES ON SALVATION
1. YOU WILL DIE ONE DAY Heb 9:27 And as it is
appointed unto men once to die,
*NOTE* YOU DO KNOW YOU COULD DIE ANY TIME, DON'T
YOU?
2. YOU WILL BE JUDGED ONE DAY Hebrews 9:27 ...but
after this the judgment *NOTE* YOU WILL GIVE AN ACCOUNT OF EVERY
IDLE WORD, EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE. Romans 2:16 In the day
when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my
gospel.
Revelation 20:12-15 And I saw the dead, small
and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book
was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of
those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered
up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according
to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
3. YOU WILL NOT GET BY THAT JUDGMENT IN YOUR OWN
RIGHTEOUSNESS
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all
as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;
and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken
us away.
*NOTE* ANY GOOD DEED OR WORK YOU'VE EVER DONE
IS AS FILTHY RAGS IN GOD'S SIGHT.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which
we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Ephesians 2:1-3 And you hath he quickened, who
were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power
of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts
of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and
were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without
Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from
the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
4. YOU MUST SWAP YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESSES FOR GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS
Romans 10:3,4 For they being ignorant of God's
righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have
not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ
is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
*NOTE* JUST FACE IT, THE BEST YOU CAN DO WILL
SEND YOU TO HELL.
*NOTE* HERE ARE THE VERSES THAT SHOW YOU HOW TO
BE SAVED.
Romans 10:9-12 That if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall
not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
*NOTE* SALVATION IS IN THE PERSON OF THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST AND THE BLOOD HE SHED ON THE CROSS. YOUR SACRAMENTS, CONFIRMATION,
GOOD WORKS, BAPTISM, OR RELIGION CANNOT HELP YOU. YOU MUST SEE YOURSELF
LOST, WITHOUT HOPE, DEAD IN TRESPASSES AND SINS AND RECEIVE THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR. JUST ASK HIM THE BEST WAY YOU KNOW
TO SAVE YOU. PRAY THIS SIMPLE PRAYER, LORD JESUS, I KNOW YOU DIED,
WAS BURIED AND ROSE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES. DEPENDING
ON YOUR SHED BLOOD ALONE, I'M ASKING YOU RIGHT NOW TO SAVE ME.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved.
*NOTE* THIS NEXT VERSE SHOWS THAT BY THE TIME YOU
ASK THE LORD TO SAVE YOU, YOU HAVE ALREADY BELIEVED FROM THE HEART TO SALVATION.
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in
whom they have not believed?
